Major Additions Planned for Springfield

Artist's Sketch
The region's next Baxter Village is already under construction.  The major difference is going to be the shops to homes ratio.  Springfield is slated to hold only 650 single family homes with 300,000 sqft of commercial space. for comparison, Baxter Village has 1,450 homes with only 250,000 sqft of commercial space.
For those of you that are unaware where this is located, think Gold Hill Road and Interstate 77.  More exact is Hwy 21 and Springfield Parkway.  If you take a trip out to check out the site, you will notice that the construction of phase 1 has already started. Harris Teeter will anchor the fist phase of Springfield, and will be accompanied by a nail salon and Great Clips when the phase first opens.  There are spaces for restaurants and a few smaller shops still available in this phase.
A builder who must remain nameless until the contract is signed is close to closing the deal to develop the new phase of homes.  Home construction is expected to start early 2015, but price points of these homes have yet to be disclosed.
Northern York county is ready for the development, and Fort Mill School district expects a growth rate of 1,000 single family homes per year. As construction picks back up in the area, Harris Teeter and other companies are putting their trust back in the build site that was postponed back in 2010.  Many even thought the Springfield project was abandoned.
Springfield and Baxter Village are both parts of the 7,000+ acre development named "Clear Spring" owned by the former area based Springs Industries - The close family.
